Competency B
Define
My understanding of competency B for a health informatics is the information/EHR skills, which is the ability of designing specific electronic program to improve EHR workflow. Healthcare informatics plays a multidisciplinary role in a healthcare organization, and the major responsibility is to utilize EHR system and develop strategies make health information operable to improve outcome and lower the cost. This role requires not only the skills in nursing intervention, clinical treatment, medical terminologies, and medical filed workflow, but also proficient in developing and managing electronic healthcare records (EHR). Just like Healthcare Informatics and Management Systems Society stated that skills of evaluating, managing, and developing electronic records are critical skills that “use information technology (IT) sensibly and to give IT a meaning (Morawski, 2021). Informatics achieve their role at works by combining the “theory, practice, and behavioral and management science into methods, tools, and concepts that lead to efficient information systems ("Defining public health informatics," 2021).

Discuss
The courses I took not only prepared me the concept and the knowledge of information system, but also the competence of healthcare information technology skills and abilities needed to perform data management tasks that required by a specific filed. The course INFM 206 Electronic Records: Foundations, taught me the concepts of data management and governance, data lifecycle, and the technology challenges though out of the data lifecycle. Through INFM201 Iinformatics Technology Foundations learned web implementation, web frameworks and concept of data flow and workflow, computing fundamentals, and basic concept of coding such as Python and SQL. As a nurse without that much opportunity to learn computer technology, this class prepared me better for my future care in terms of basic computer networking knowledge. INFM 207 DAM-Digital Assets Management course taught me the features and use of metadata, data workflow. Taxonomy and the importance of storing, sharing, and organizing all digital assets in the new media revolution.

INFM 206 Electronic Records: Foundations.
I completed a final project presentation titled “Data Management and Governance Plan for St. Vincent’s Hospital, the organization that I am working at. The premise of this project was for a healthcare organization implement data managing and data governance programs through managing data life cycle activities, which includes plan, design and enable, create, and obtain, store and maintain, use, enhance and disposal. St. Vincent’s Hospital in Florida implemented the Cerner Electronic Health Record system to document diagnoses, medications, charting and clinical data analytics. The purpose of my presentation was to discuss who and what areas of organization will need to be involved in each phase and what their roles will be in development and implementing the data management plan in Cerner EHR system.

INFM 201 Informatics Technology Foundations.
It was a proposal for long-term care EHR system optimizing project. I argued that when data is sitting in in system or linking to another module, they are not used to support clinical decision making and improve risk management. Using data meaningfully is the key to improve the quality, efficiency, and safety of residents in nursing homes. My project is to improve workflow and dataflow by adding a risk management module on MatrixCare system. I designed new data flow and workflow and added a new risk management module in the system.

I made a metadata system for 18 video clips. First, I assume that 18 video clips are digital assets of a warehouse scenes section for a movie video library website. The website owner attempted to manage their video content. The management sorted the digital movie assets by providing reliable in-detail information of the movie record. I utilized controlled vocabulary to achieve this goal. I also ensured the users of the video clips be able to assess those videos without difficulty. In addition, my metadata design allows updating with ever-changing volume and content of movie clips.

Summary:
The courses that I accomplished helped me to develop skills in electronic record information process and management. Indeed, the assignment and projects provided me an opportunity to embrace the health informatics role. To be specific, health information skills include “understanding information management within the enterprise, designing workflow information management maps for all facets of healthcare processes, creating guidelines and software models that promote health treatment, instruction, administration, or analysis (Sharma, et al., 2020). I believe that I achieved the competency B.
