Competency E
Define
My understanding of Competency E is the ability to determine how a EHR project should work and how to handle the changes during implementing process . HIMSS (Health Information and Management System Society) stated that a qualified health informatics needs a bachelor’s or a master’s degree, experience in clinical, and skills in project, technology, data management and leadership ("What is nursing informatics?", 2022). HIMSS requirements meet the health informatics job requirements. If you search a health informatics job requirement, you will find one of essential requirements is to support health care providers team by providing patient data analysis to resolve real-world problems in an EHR system. To perform the professional role successfully, health informatics need to have skills of communication and collaboration to work in a team. A health informatics position involves communicating with team members from different interdisciplinary groups and stakeholders ("6 health informatics careers," 2021). Besides team cooperator, a health informatics’ responsibilities involve project management as well. One of three key skills in health information management is project management, because they need to be able to perform not only “multiple tasks, but people, department, and resources, ensuring all projects are organized and on time” ("3 key skills needed in health information management," 2021). Health informatics plays a leadership role that efficiently communicates with other healthcare members to improve patient satisfaction and safety.

The courses that I took helped me to achieve the competency E outcomes. INFM 200 Informatics Fundamentals provided me an opportunity to understand information electronic records, and information uses. It also engaged me to identify uses, evaluate, and develop a healthcare program. The course challenged me to solve a real-life working problem and advance my project management skills. INFM 204 Human Centered Design allowed me to apply user-centered knowledge to resolve a program design problem. The course also provided me a practical skill in project initiation, coordination, communication, and implementation. INFM 205 Informatics Project Management taught various aspects on how to manage a project successfully, including useful management techniques, practical skills to be a project manger and a team member, and understanding a project lifecycle.

INFM200 Informatics Fundamental- Final Research Paper
In this final paper, I proposed a project that to improve risk management outcomes in a long-term care facility. I redesigned a risk management program that facilitated proactive decision making to resolve problems in MatrixCare EHR system. By reviewing research articles and conducting an in-depth interview with the risk management team members, I came up with a better design in workflow and data flow is needed to gain improvements in LTC risk management.

INFM 204 Human Centered Design-Final Report of Redesigned Website Project
This final report described the process of the website redesigning project. I represented MDAS designing team to conduct this specific website project. The purpose of the project is to create a high-performance website to get more supporters and sponsors. It includes the process of with purpose statement, the background, problem, and objective statement including business objectives and design objectives, user research, plan for user testing, users journey maps and new site map design.

INFM 205 Informatics Project Management- Discussion Questions Answers and Essay
I chose a couple of discussion question answer and project management strategy essay. To answer those questions, I did research on different project management related topics such as project definition, project framework, project planning, project resource, communication, and monitoring. I wrote question answers in well-organized essay format, which indicated that I was dutifully engaged in deep learning experience.
Summary:
Project managing skills is essential to meet a role of qualified health informaticist, because health informatics is a role that support healthcare professionals from different discipline. To perform this specific role successfully, a HI need to communicate and corporate in a team effectively, which requires knowledge of project management and lifecycle and skills of recognizing changes and handle changes to ensure project are organized and delivered on time. The courses I took helped me in developing skills in communication, identifying users, project initiation, and project management techniques. I believe that I already achieve competency E as I understand virous aspects of EHR project management though the opportunities provided by this program.
