Conclusion

I started being interested in health informatics in July 2020 when the nursing home that I worked at received deficiency citations for failures to meet government requirements. The event called me attention to the possibility to improve EHR system that we were using. Therefore, I did research on graduate program that combine nursing care and information technology.  I enrolled in master program health informatics at San Jose State University in 2021. This Master of Informatics program has been a challenging yet rewarding journey.

A field like informatics is one that can open many doors and bring many opportunities. Also, a higher degree me to boost my careers because it provides me opportunity of gaining specialized knowledge and skills which will ensure me to be eligible for more career opportunities. Besides the expertise and credibility, the master’s degree program sharpened my skills in facilitating better decision-making regarding medication treatment and administration.

Every single course of the program that I took helps me to build the specialized knowledge to advance me in healthcare informatics field. I became one of the professionals that understand both clinical and technical languages and create a new language in EHR system to facilitate better patient-centered care outcomes and better healthcare providers using experiences.

 As the journey came to an end, I would like to appreciate every opportunity It has given me to gain skills that will help me in my career and beyond. I believe that I can use what I have learned to make positive impact in healthcare.
