Competency D
Define
Based on my experience of a bedside nurse and a EHR user, my understanding of competency D that a qualified health informaticist is a superusers who is not only be able to translate user’ needs into technology language, but also impact workflow and communication. A recent study concluded that EHR user experience are impacted by government regulators, policy makers, administrators, EHR developers, payers, healthcare system leadership, system interoperability, and implementation training. These factors are collaboratively contributing to end-user experience (Tutty, et. al., 2019). As an interdisciplinary role, EHR Healthcare informaticists are providing the technology skills, communication skills and leadership skills that can meet the requirements those sectors that impact health professionals user experience. Just like Fanberg stated that informatics is a multidisciplinary field that involves the “study of design, development, adoption and application of IT-basis service delivery” ( Fanbert, 2021). It requires health informatics to be “proficient in language of health and healthcare, health IT and standard, systems, design, project management’. Health informatics are knowledgeable and capable of system design, project management, human factors, which ensure the EHR system can meet all healthcare professionals’ needs. The professional role of informatics is to support healthcare professionals in order to provide patient care safely and efficiently by using knowledge of technology and the skills of healthcare workflow management.

The courses that I took not only taught me user experience, but they also provided me with and hands-on opportunity to evaluate and optimize a EHR system and a project of redesigning website. Through INFM 204 Human Centered Design, I was trained skills in website designer thinking and user experience. I also learned how to evaluate information architecture mistakes and optimize IA based on principles of user experience. INFM 205 Informatics Project Management provided me opportunity to gain the skills to identify a project management roles and environment. I learned about the project life cycle. I also obtained the project management techniques and be able to evaluate the effectiveness of a project management tool.

INFM 204 Human Centered Design.
The final project was a website optimizing design plan. The purpose of Charis Bookstore website project is to enhance and create a high-performance website to get more supporters for feminist community while advertising works for social justice. Additionally, it also encourages the expression of diverse and marginalized voices with its selection of works. My improved design will be able to get new users such as the feminist movement researchers and modern literature researchers. Besides the people who are currently or potentially using the bookstore website, there are some other stakeholders that are getting benefits from optimizing website project, such as bookstore owners, the sales team, the in-store staffs, online and in-store book buyer, and the customer relations personnel.

INFM 205 Informatics Project Management
One of project is an analysis paper on project management software. The report was analyzing the advantages of Kintone project software. I did research and concluded that Kintone software is advantageous because it is easy to use, it offer multiple project management solutions, it has good user reputation, it has higher compatibility and the price is reasonable. A project team leader can take advantages of multiple option, great reputations, on time customer services, and cost-effective price to successfully manage a project.
Summary:
When it comes to the benefits of user-centered design, I agree that when EHR designing focused on user experience on each step of implementing process, the end users will be able to perform more efficiently which will lead lower cost of the project, decrease maintenance and training cost (What is user experience in healthcare IT?, 2021). Cost efficiency is one of goals of healthcare organizations, which require Electronic Health Record system designers to use the principles of user-centered design. The courses that I took prepared me to apply basic user-center design principles when evaluate and develop an informatics program, such as software and website. The projects that I finished and provided me an opportunity to understand user interface, users’ tasks, their working environment, and their goals, them implement these factors into user experience. Therefore, I believe that I achieved the competency D before I get into Health Informatics field.
